Hymn and Scripture Challenge - O Holy Night

I had to make the time for Patters challenge this week as it is a wonderful reminder of why we celebrate Christmas .A very beautiful hymn !
I would also like to wish everyone a truly blessed Christmas full of the peace and joy only Our Saviour can give.
Sorry about the poor quality of the photo ,the verse is Luke 2 verses 11-12.

Hymn and Scripture Challenge - I Surrender All and When We All Get to Heaven

It's been a while since I have been able to join in the challenge again over at www.triplethescraps.blogspot.com. A move back overseas, waiting for my craft supplies being shipped over, settling into a new home, trying to get used to a new computer [ not quite got the hang of it  though as my uncropped photos reveal ! ]  The Lord has helped us and we are all  [including our beautiful dog ! ] getting used to our new environment.
I have a couple of pages to post finally and hope to catch up soon.

I Surrender All

This has to be one of my favourite scriptures but also one which I fail to heed many times!
Trust in The Lord with ALL your heart , I surrender ALL  but somehow I always seem to be holding on to something!

When We all Get To Heaven

I am not familiar with this hymn but think it is lovely! I think of all the worship going on in Heaven now and will be forevermore.I immediately thought about my stamp from a set by Our Daily Bread Designs to use for my scripture. One good thing about moving is that you get to sort out all the things you have been hoarding for years! I unearthed some chipboard pieces which I had never used and was pleased to use one here for my 'Heavenly' tree.

Hym and Scripture Challenge THE LOVE OF GOD

A few weeks ago Patter gave us this wonderful hymn for our challenge. Although I have never sung it or heard it sung in church, I have a cd with this hymn on and have always thought the words were beautiful. It is true that we cannot fathom the love God has for us , it is so great. The more we can focus on God's love for us, the easier it is for us to love others. This hymn is one to sing or listen to often.

I wanted to include all the words on my page so they could be easily read so I just had enough room for my scripture. The lovely Wordart is by Karen at www.papercraftmemories.com . The verse was especially appropriate as it was Easter when I completed my page. The background paper is actually glittered but doesn't show up on the photo.

Hymn and Scripture Challenge SAVIOR LIKE A SHEPHERD LEAD US

Another hymn I have not heard before but another one with lovely words !
Jesus as our Shepherd is such a comforting picture.
I so like the verse from Isaiah 40:11, a picture of such a caring Shepherd.

For my page I cut out a shepherds crook shape and stained it with brown ink and chalk and added some flowers, raffia bow and leaves. I have had the grass border for some years so was glad to be able to use it here. The little sheep is from a peel off sticker Nativity set.

I have so enjoyed meditating on Jesus our Shepherd these past two weeks! The Hymn and Scripture Challenge is such a blessing , details are on Patter's blog www.triplethescraps.blogspot.com .It is possible to join in any time , well worth a visit!
Looking forward to the next hymn.

Thanks for visiting.

Little Moose card!

I haven't got many stamps but a few years ago I did buy two stamps featuring Riley Moose.
I find these moose images so cute! They haven't been used very much so I was pleased to be able to make a card with one of the stamps for a friend who has been in hospital and needs to take it easy for a while.I was pleased to be able to use one of my scripture stamps from Our Daiy Bread designs too.
I am linking this to the scripture Thursday over at www.littlebirdieblessings.blogspot.com
It is a really lovely blog and well worth a visit!

Hymn and Scripture Challenge - MAY THE MIND OF CHRIST MY SAVIOR

I had not heard this hymn before but thought the words were wonderful!
Patter has written a lovely post about this hymn and it is well worth a visit to read it at the link below.

http://www.triplethescraps.blogspot.com/2012/02/hscrc12-hymn-5-may-mind-of-christ-my.html

The hymn reads like a beautiful prayer.

For my page I used the verse from Philippians 4:8, I have often thought how good it would be just to think on the things in the verse, how different our lives would be!
I can't seem to get good photos at the moment but if you click on the picture you should get a larger view.

I found a lovely version of the hymn on You tube so I hope the link works ok.

Looking forward to the next hymn, hope to post a little earlier next time!

Wordart Wednesday

I think I might be too late to submit my card for this weeks challenge at www.wordartwednesday.blogspot.com, but thought I would share it anyway.
There have been so many beautiful entries this week ,scripture does really bring out the best in crafters , no doubt about that!

Patterned paper  My Minds Eye "Hattie"
                                                 Our Daily Bread Designs Stamp
                                                 Sizzix Tattered flowers die
                                                 Papermania brads

I very rarely use stamped images as I don't usually get good results and am not very good at the colouring! Our Daily Bread Designs have such lovely stamps though that I must do some practicing and invest in a few more.
What a wonderful scripture this is for our busy weeks which seem to fly by sometimes.

Thanks for visiting today!

Hymn and Scripture Challenge STANDING ON THE PROMISES

This weeks challenge gave us a hymn which I have never sung before. When I followed Patters link to listen to the hymn  ,I recognised the tune, I had probably heard it many times on  Christian TV programmes from America. It is so different when you have the words before you. What was once a "catchy" chorus turns into a beautiful hymn with precious lyrics. I am sure I will be singing this one for a while too!
I chose both my scriptures from Isaiah, one to remind me to stand on the promises and the other, one of the many promises we can stand on.

I did manage two verses on my page , so maybe I am beginning to get used to my 6x6 format!
I managed to keep a little of the patterned paper showing as it is so nice and managed to only use one flower!
I can't seem to get very good photos at the moment ,the light has changed with the weather and I will have to do a little experimenting.

Hymn and Scripture Challenge HOW GREAT THOU ART

Has anyone else been singing this Hymn non stop for two weeks? I was even singing it in my dream last night! It is difficult to choose just one scripture describing our great God but in the end I decided on Psalm 104 verse 1, what a wonderful description of Him "clothed in honour and majesty"! I hope my page goes a little way to conveying the love we have for our Great God.

                                                    Wild Orchid Crafts flowers

I have been listening to a great version of this hymn by the worship group at Abundant Life Church in the north of England. This is a large multi national church with all age groups, I think it goes to show how the old hymns can still be sung and enjoyed in contemporary worship services. Unfortuneately I can't seem to embed this video but maybe this link will work:

Thaks for visiting and looking forward to the next hymn today!

Hymn and Scripture Challenge Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus

Patter gave us another very beautiful hymn this time. It is so interesting to know about the history behind the hymns , it really makes you appreciate them even more. I liked the way the New Living translation expressed the verse from Phillipians 4:7.I am still trying to adapt to the 6x6 format I decided to use but I think I will get used to the smaller space! I have been really blessed by this hymn,in many different versions, traditional and contemporary.
My page hasn't photographed very well, the colours are a little "off " but I do really like this verse!

Hymn and Scripture Challenge 2012

Happy New year ! A new challenge to begin the year and bless us throughout!
I so enjoyed the ABC Scripture Challenge last year and was so pleased that Patter was going to continue this year. Please visit her lovely blog at triplethescraps.blogspot.com for all the details.
The first hymn is one we all know Amazing Grace. The story behind this hymn and the words are so wonderful! It is difficult to choose just one scripture when there are so many to choose from. I had decided to do 6 x 6 pages as a change to last years 8 x 8,but I am already wondering if I should have allowed myself more space and used a larger format! I would like to display my pages on a stand similar to the one Patter has used in a previous challenge though.

                                                         Coredenations and Papermania papers
                                                          Papermania paper rosebuds
                                                          Cuttlebug corner die
                                                          Sizzix framelits banner dies

Thank you for visiting and I would encourage anyone to join in this year. There are already lots of beautiful pages uploaded so we will have so much spiritual and crafty inspiration this year!

ABC Scripture Challenge ZEAL and VALUE

Slightly out of order but two more pages for last years challenge [ 2 more to go to finish!]
It is so easy to get behind for various reasons ,so after this post I am going straight into this years challenge and will catch up later.
Value

I used gold elements to convey the word value and my friend the Sizzix bird to tie in with the verse from Matthew. I am sure we all agree that the word of God is of the most value in our lives.

Zeal

For me , this verse really sums up the word zeal!
I tried to make a bold coloured page , using some Papermania dimensional stickers and papers.

Thanks for visiting today and see you soon for the new challenge!
